Aligning Curricula for a Seamless Start

The first thing we do is align the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge curricula to ensure students can hit the ground running.

Our focus is on building from the strong foundation of primary school and getting students ready for the challenges of secondary-level academics. Hence, we help students transition smoothly from primary to secondary without missing a beat by bridging any gaps in learning.

Feedback That Drives Improvement

We believe that education works best when it’s a two-way street. That’s why feedback from students and parents is at the heart of our programme.

Therefore, we’re always listening to understand how things are going. This ongoing conversation helps us tweak our approach and tackle any challenges quickly so every student feels fully supported.

Keeping Everyone Informed

When families are informed, they can feel assured and at ease. Therefore, to make sure everyone’s on the same page, we host info sessions for students and parents.

These sessions cover everything you need to know, from how secondary school is structured to what’s expected for homework and assessments. By providing clear and transparent communication, we help them understand what lies ahead, making the transition less daunting for both students and their parents.

Support Services for Every Step

Adapting to a new teaching style and assessment method can be challenging, but our dedicated support services ensure students don’t face this alone. Our counselling and mentorship programmes provide personalised guidance to help students navigate their new environment.

Whether it’s managing time effectively, understanding new subjects, or simply adjusting to a different routine, our team is here to help. These support services empower students to feel confident and capable as they settle into secondary school life.

Training Teachers for the Transition

Teachers play a crucial role in helping students adapt to secondary school, and we equip them with the tools to do so effectively. Our educators undergo specialised training to navigate the frameworks of both the IB and Cambridge curricula.

This training ensures they can support students academically and emotionally during the transition period. By fostering a culture of collaboration and adaptability, our teachers become a reliable source of encouragement and guidance for students.

Experiencing Secondary Firsthand

For many students, uncertainty about what secondary school will be like can create anxiety. To ease these concerns, we organise Transition Days where students get a firsthand look at what’s ahead.

During these days, students visit secondary classes, participate in activities, and experience the teaching style they’ll encounter in their next grade level. Teachers also collaborate regularly to ensure alignment across grades, creating a seamless transition for students.

At BINUS SCHOOL Surabaya, our Transition Programme reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive environment where students can thrive. With the right guidance and support, we believe that transitioning from primary to secondary school can also be an exciting opportunity for growth. And we’re here to make this journey a positive experience!
