Joshua Romero – Early Years and Primary Teacher

For the past several years, I have taught English as a second language in Indonesia, working with students ranging from four year olds to adults in both primary and secondary settings. I am now excited to bring this experience into my first year within an international curriculum.

This transition aligns perfectly with my teaching philosophy, which is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” I believe that we are never too old to grow and that education is an integral, lifelong journey that does not end with age.

My dedication to the language is deeply personal. Having graduated summa cum laude with an English degree, I spent seventeen years writing and refining my novel, My Friend the Worm, and eventually publishing it as both a hard copy and an ebook. While this remains my most treasured personal feat, I have always viewed writing as a true art form. My goal is to pass this appreciation for the craft on to my students, helping them find their own passion for the power of words.

Guided by this belief in lifelong learning, I strive to make English meaningful and relevant to the daily lives of my students. Rather than focusing solely on mechanics, I show them how the language empowers them to express themselves, connect globally, and engage with the media they enjoy. When students see a practical purpose for their studies, they begin to engage with the languagemore naturally.
