At BINUS SCHOOL Surabaya, we care not only about great education but also about the environment and your wellbeing. That is why our building has been specially designed to be eco friendly, energy efficient and comfortable for everyone. Here are just a few things that make our campus special.

Yellowish toilet water? It is a good thing!
You might notice that the toilet water looks slightly yellow. Do not worry it is completely safe. That is because we use harvested rainwater to flush the toilets. It is a smart way to save clean water and help the planet. Signs will be added soon to let everyone know:
“We use harvested water for flushing to conserve our resources.”

Fresh air all day long
Our building has excellent air circulation and the humidity levels are well balanced. This means students and teachers enjoy fresh, clean air in every classroom helping everyone stay focused, healthy and energised.

Cool design that keeps things comfortable
BINUS SCHOOL Surabaya uses a clever double skin wall system with two layers of walls spaced about 1.2 metres apart. This helps keep out heat from outside while letting fresh air flow in. It keeps classrooms cooler naturally, reducing the need for air conditioning and saving energy.

Sunshine and Vitamin D
Classrooms are filled with natural sunlight especially in the morning. Not only does this make learning spaces bright and cheerful but it also gives students a healthy boost of Vitamin D which is great for bones and overall health.

A rooftop garden you can enjoy
We even have a hydroponic garden on the rooftop. Here, students and staff can grow vegetables and fruit together and harvest them when they are ready. It is a fun and healthy way to learn about nature, food and sustainability and enjoy the fresh produce too.
