Future Tech Leaders in the Making: BINUS Simprug Grade 6 Innovators Launch Face Recognition Attendance System

Innovation isn’t simply taught, it’s cultivated as a way of thinking from the earliest years. Two exceptional Grade 6 students in BINUS SCHOOL, Cedric and Anderson from the Class of 2032, have shown how curiosity and determination can empower young learners to create meaningful change.

Their journey began in Grade 5, when they noticed a frequent challenge among their peers: many students often forgot their school IDs, especially during morning attendance. Motivated to find a better solution, Cedric and Anderson envisioned a faster, smarter way to record attendance, leading to the creation of the Face Recognition Attendance App.

What started as an idea to save time soon developed into a working prototype, blending creativity, problem-solving, and real-world applications of artificial intelligence.

With the guidance of Mr. Albert and inspiration from the AI Club at BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, the two students explored machine learning, training algorithms to recognize faces and match them with stored profiles. Countless hours of coding, testing, and refining allowed them to transform classroom knowledge into a practical innovation with potential global impact.
