Empowering the Next Generation to Navigate Global Challenges

Today’s young generation holds an increasingly crucial role in responding to an unpredictable global landscape. They are expected to understand, adapt, and actively contribute to addressing various global challenges, ranging from food security and public health to inclusive economic growth.

In response to these challenges, Binus School Education reaffirms its commitment by hosting the Asia-Pacific Young Leaders Convention (APYLC) 2026, held on 20–24 April 2026 at Binus School Serpong. This international forum serves as a platform for high school students from across the Asia-Pacific region to collaborate, broaden their global perspectives, and develop solutions to today’s evolving global dynamics.

Entering its 9th year, APYLC 2026 brings together delegates from Binus School Education (Indonesia), Kaichi High School (Japan), Nan Chiau High School (Singapore), and Changshu Lunhua Senior High School (China). Carrying the theme “Root for Change: Feeding Minds, Healing Communities, Empowering Futures,” participants are invited to explore global issues through the lens of three key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Young Generation Responding to Global Challenges

“The theme of this year’s APYLC reflects the importance of a holistic approach in addressing global challenges. Through this platform, we aim to encourage young people to understand the complexity of today’s global landscape and to develop solutions that are not only innovative but also sustainable,” said Sherrierose Garcia Gonzales, Director of Binus School Education, in a written statement on Monday, 20 April 2026.

She also expressed hope that participants would take full advantage of this opportunity—not only to learn but also to contribute through ideas and tangible actions. APYLC 2026 was also welcomed by Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, who attended as the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony on Monday, 20 April 2026.

She emphasized the importance of collaboration and empathy in addressing global challenges. “APYLC is not merely a forum, but a starting point for young people to take on a role in shaping the future they envision. Addressing global challenges cannot be done alone—it requires collaboration and a deeper understanding of issues within communities so that we can create meaningful impact,” she stated.

Binus School Education remains committed to delivering learning experiences that are relevant to global needs through leadership development and cross-cultural collaboration. Through APYLC 2026, participants are expected not only to expand their global insights but also to be inspired to take active roles in creating meaningful impact for the future.
